Armies and Scenario

Two tabs turn a shaped map into a playable match: ⚑ Armies places the starting forces, and ⚡ Scenario scripts objectives on top of them. See the Map Editor Overview for the full tour.

The ⚑ Armies Tab

The Armies tab is where you place starting forces. Always pick a team first, then place things for that team.

  • There are up to 12 teams, each with a color name. Blue = Player 1.
  • With a team selected, place Buildings (Palace and the rest), Units, and Resource Spots.

Remember the Test Play requirements from the overview: you need a Blue (Player 1) Palace and Prime, and at least two teams with a Palace, before you can launch.

The ⚡ Scenario Tab

The Scenario tab turns a map into a scripted mission.

Trigger Zones

Paint Trigger Zones — rectangular or round map regions — that your triggers can react to. For example, a zone can detect when a unit enters or when a team holds it.

Triggers

The Triggers editor lets you build “when these conditions are true, do these actions” rules. Triggers can show messages, set objectives, spawn units, start timers and counters, conjure storms, declare victory or defeat, and more. For the full list of what triggers can do, see Scenarios and Triggers.

AI and Starting Stock

Per team, you can set:

  • AI difficulty — how the computer plays that team, if at all.
  • Starting stock — the resources that team begins with.

Map Type

Finally, choose the map’s type: Skirmish or Scenario. A Skirmish is a standard fight to eliminate every enemy; a Scenario is decided by your triggers. Both types can be played solo or in Multiplayer.

Next Steps

With armies placed and the mission scripted, save and share your map from the Library, or revisit the terrain in Land and Decorate.
