Accessibility
An honest account of where the website and the game stand, and what is planned.
This website
warigami-game.com aims for WCAG 2.1 AA. Today:
- Every page has a single H1, a logical heading order, and a skip-to-content link.
- All controls are reachable by keyboard with a visible focus ring; the mobile menu closes on Escape.
- Text and interface colours meet AA contrast on the dark theme. Nothing is conveyed by colour alone; tag pills carry their label as text.
- Images carry descriptive alt text; decorative images are marked as such.
- Animations and smooth scrolling are disabled when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Pages are readable at 200% zoom and on 360-pixel-wide screens without horizontal scrolling. Wide tables scroll inside their own box.
- Press / anywhere to jump to the wiki search.
The briefing film on the home page has English captions (timed by sentence, so a cue may lead or trail the voice by a moment). Known gap: the play page embeds the game, which has the limitations below.
The game
Warigami is a real-time strategy game controlled with a mouse and keyboard. Being candid about the current state:
- Vision. Team colours are strong and distinct, and every unit has a distinct silhouette, but there is no colour-blind palette option yet. Interface text is fixed-size; there is no UI scale setting. The game is not usable with a screen reader.
- Hearing. The tutorial's voice-over is shown as on-screen text, word for word, so the mission is fully playable without sound. Storm warnings are shown visually as well as spoken. Battle callouts from the herald are voice-only today.
- Motor. Every command has a keyboard hotkey and there is no time-critical clicking outside normal RTS play. The camera moves by keyboard alone (WASD or arrows) as well as by edge-scrolling or middle-drag. There is no remapping of hotkeys and no edge-scroll toggle yet, and the game has no pause in multiplayer other than the shared pause vote.
- Cognition. The tutorial teaches one idea at a time and does not run a clock. Skirmish AI has four difficulties, the lowest of which is slow to attack.
- Motion and effects. Screen shake is minimal. Storm rain, fire and detonation effects can be reduced under Settings ▸ Graphics ▸ Effect density.
On the list
Not yet scheduled, but recognised as gaps:
- A colour-blind-safe team palette.
- Hotkey remapping and a UI scale setting.
- Captions for the briefing film.
- Subtitles for the herald's battle callouts.
