Privacy Policy
Warigami has no accounts, no analytics, and no telemetry. Here is everything it does touch.
The short version
- No accounts. You never sign up, log in, or give us an email address to play.
- No analytics or telemetry. Neither the website nor the game runs tracking scripts, advertising pixels, or usage reporting.
- Your saves stay with you. Maps, settings and campaign progress are stored on your own device.
- Two things reach us, and only when you act: the Windows build's update check at launch, and a bug report if you press Ctrl+B and choose to send it.
- We don't sell or share personal information with anyone for marketing. Ever.
What this covers
This policy describes the personal information handled by the Warigami website, the in-browser build of the game, and the downloadable Windows build ("the game"). It does not cover third-party sites we link to, or the privacy practices of other players on your local network.
This website
warigami-game.com is a static site. It sets no cookies of its own, loads no third-party scripts, fonts or analytics, and has no forms that send us data. The wiki search runs entirely in your browser.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare receives the technical details of each request — your IP address, browser user-agent, the page requested, and the time — and may keep short-lived logs of them for security and performance. We do not see individual visitor logs. Cloudflare's own policy is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
The Play page embeds the browser build of the game from https://warigami-play.pages.dev, which we also operate, and the home page streams the briefing film from the same place. Loading either is an ordinary web request to Cloudflare as described above.
The game
Playing Warigami does not require an account and the game never asks for your name, email, or any identifier, with one exception: the optional "reporter" field on a bug report (see below).
Local storage. The game keeps your settings, graphics preferences, custom maps, Library history and campaign progress on your own device:
- Browser build: in your browser's local storage for https://warigami-play.pages.dev. Clearing site data for that address deletes them. Export maps from the Library first if you want to keep them.
- Windows build: in
%APPDATA%\Warigami. That folder also holds a local renderer log (renderer.log) used to diagnose a black screen, and local copies of any bug reports you file. Uninstalling the game leaves the folder in place; delete it yourself if you want it gone.
Nothing in local storage is transmitted to us except as part of a bug report you choose to send.
Update checks (Windows build)
When the Windows build starts, it fetches a small version manifest from our release bucket (Cloudflare R2) to see whether a newer version exists, and downloads the update package if you accept it. These are plain HTTPS requests: they carry your IP address and a standard user-agent, as every web request does, and nothing else — no device ID, no install ID, no usage data. The request is not logged by us; Cloudflare may keep short-lived access logs as described above.
There is no background updater. The check happens once, at launch, and the update is applied only when you choose Restart to update or Update & quit.
Bug and feature reports
Pressing Ctrl+B in the game opens a report form. Nothing is sent until you press Send. If you do, the report contains:
- The title, description and category you typed, and the optional reporter name if you filled it in. Use a nickname if you prefer — it is free text and is only used so we can attribute follow-ups.
- A screenshot of the game canvas at that moment (game graphics only; never your desktop or other windows).
- Game context: the build version, the map or level name, the in-game clock, and the types of your units and buildings.
- Technical context: your browser or app user-agent string, the game's page URL, a timestamp, roughly the last ten seconds of frame-timing statistics, and the most recent console log lines from the game itself.
Windows build: reports are sent over HTTPS to our report intake, a Cloudflare Worker, and stored in Cloudflare KV storage; the app also keeps a copy in %APPDATA%\Warigami\bug-reports. Browser build: there is currently no report intake — the form saves the report to your browser's local storage and it is never transmitted; email us instead. We use reports solely to find and fix problems and to weigh feature requests; we do not use them for marketing and we do not share them outside the development team. Please don't put passwords, payment details or other sensitive information in a report.
LAN multiplayer
Multiplayer works only on a local network and involves no server of ours. To let other copies of the game find yours, the Windows build broadcasts a small discovery message on your local network (UDP port 41734) while you host or browse for games; game traffic itself relays between players on TCP port 27341. What travels between players is the game state — commands, the player name you type in the lobby, your chosen colour and province, and any custom map the host shares so everyone plays the same file. None of this leaves your network and none of it reaches us.
Other players in your lobby can see the name you enter and will receive a copy of any custom map you host. Treat maps you share as shared.
Who handles the data
| Provider | What they do for us | What they see |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Hosts the website and browser build (Pages), stores release files (R2), and runs the bug-report intake (Workers + KV). | Request metadata for anything you load from us; the contents of bug reports you send. |
That's the whole list. We use no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or email-marketing providers.
How long we keep things
- Bug reports: deleted once resolved. Unresolved reports are kept no longer than twelve months from filing.
- Hosting logs: we keep none ourselves; Cloudflare's short-term logs are governed by its policy.
- Email you send us: kept as long as needed to answer you and handle any follow-up.
Your choices and rights
- Play without any of this. The browser build makes no requests to us after it loads. The Windows build's only automatic request is the update check; it works offline if you'd rather block it, though you'll then need to reinstall to update.
- Bug reports are opt-in. Don't press Send and nothing is sent.
- Deletion. If you sent a bug report and want it removed, email us the approximate time and title and we'll delete it.
- Access and correction. Ask and we'll tell you what, if anything, we hold that came from you. Because we hold no accounts, this will almost always be "nothing" or "the bug reports you sent".
If you live somewhere with specific privacy rights (the EU/UK GDPR, California's CCPA/CPRA, and similar laws), those rights apply, and the email below is how to exercise them. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
Children
Warigami is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. There is nothing to sign up for, but if you believe a child has sent us personal information in a bug report, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we ever add something that touches your data — a leaderboard, an online mode, crash reporting — we will update this page before it ships and note the change in the update log. The effective date at the top tells you when it last changed.
