Python Pit
The Python Pit is a ragged hole in the ground, home to one very patient Python. It is the Profane province’s wild-roost — the black mirror of the Pious Perch — but where the Perch draws a flock of light peckers to patrol its sky and ground, the Pit keeps a single heavyweight horror below the grass. Enemies that stray near get constricted; the small ones get swallowed whole.
Defense
- The Pit draws in one wild Python (the first arrives within the first minute or so; a lost snake is replaced on a similar timer).
- Ground prey at or under 150 HP is swallowed whole — an instant kill — and dragged back to the Pit to digest. Bigger prey gets constricted and bitten for steady damage, then abandoned if it escapes the snake’s patience.
- The snake is wild: free, popless, uncommandable, and loyal only to its hole. It ignores aircraft entirely.
- The Plumper Python upgrade (bought on the Pit) fattens the resident: +50% HP, and it heals twice as fast when it slithers home.
Strategy
Where a Perch is a picket, a Pit is a trap. The Python’s swallow makes the Pit uniquely good at deleting the cheap units that harassment is made of — scouting workers, raiding parties, stray line infantry all vanish down the same throat, at zero ongoing cost to you. Dig Pits at your mining lines, at lightly-watched expansions, and along the paths raiders like; one Pit quietly pays for itself the second time it eats a 50-Paper worker’s escort. Its blind spots are the mirror of its strength: it cannot touch the air, a single snake can be overwhelmed by a real push, and anything over the swallow threshold can grind it down at acceptable cost. Treat it as the cruel half of a defense, not the whole of one — pair it with a Poison Projector that softens big targets down toward snake-food weight.
