State of Development
Where Warigami stands: what is built and playable today, what is still open, and how to help by reporting from the field.
Warigami is pre-release software in active development, and it updates often. The Update Log has the release-by-release story; this page is the standing summary. The current version is shown on the download page.
What is built and playable
- The engine — a deterministic real-time simulation on Three.js / WebGL 2, in the browser and in the Windows build, with lockstep LAN multiplayer and reconnect recovery.
- The fold — 31 units and 21 buildings across two provinces, ⛩ Pious and 冥 Profane, with patterns, studies, upgrades, and un-folding.
- The economy — three raw resources and refined Parchment, materials stored in real buildings and hauled by Pushers, with a push-less rule for maps that want it.
- The weather — forecast Ink Storms, Prophets and the Prism to bend them, Paladin’s Aegis, fire, plague, flight and anti-air.
- The world — lattice terrain with cliffs, ramps, water, bridges, crags and solid obstacles; six biomes; a map generator with symmetry and water styles.
- The Crimson AI — four difficulties, a real economy and build order, walls, aircraft, storm defence.
- The Map Builder — Melee and Use Map Settings maps, per-map economy and rules, a trigger system with timers, counters, zones, player picks and per-player loops, a Library with version history, and a Campaign Designer.
- The tutorial — The First Fold, Refolded, fully voiced with a briefing film.
- Sound — two heralds calling the battle in their own voices, recorded effects layered over a procedural synth, storm and fire beds.
- Tooling — an in-game bug reporter (Ctrl+B) with screenshot and flight-recorder context, and a self-updating, code-signed Windows installer.
Open items
Things the team has said it wants and has not scheduled:
- Mac and Linux builds (the browser build covers both today).
- A report intake for the browser build’s Ctrl+B form, which currently saves locally only.
- Accessibility: a colour-blind-safe team palette, hotkey remapping, a UI scale setting, subtitles for the herald’s battle callouts.
- More campaign missions beyond the tutorial.
Internet multiplayer, store releases and anything beyond that are not promised. When something is decided, it will appear here and in the update log first.
Known limitations
- Multiplayer is LAN-only. A virtual-LAN tool works for playing over the internet, but it is not supported by the game itself.
- Cross-machine determinism has been verified on the team’s hardware; varied hardware is still being watched, and a desync is reported in-game when it happens.
- The browser build keeps its Library in the browser’s local storage; export maps you care about.
How to report a bug
Press Ctrl+B in the Windows build to open the built-in form — it attaches a screenshot, the build, the map, and the last ten seconds of logs. From the browser build, email [email protected]. Say what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened. Every report lands in the same pile the developers work from; most of the update log started as one. See Support for the details.
