What is Warigami?
Warigami is a real-time strategy game where you command armies of origami warriors on a tabletop battlefield. You fold paper into units and buildings, gather stationery-themed resources, weather traveling storms, and outmaneuver your opponents.
What platforms is Warigami on?
A Windows 10/11 build you download, and a browser build that runs the same single-player game anywhere Chrome, Edge or Firefox does — including Mac and Linux. Native Mac and Linux builds are on the list but not scheduled.
Is Warigami free to play?
Yes, during development: no price, no account, no in-game purchases, no ads. Pricing for a finished release has not been decided.
Why “Warigami”?
The name is a portmanteau of “War” and “Origami” — reflecting the game’s core concept of paper warfare.
Gameplay
How is Warigami different from other RTS games?
Warigami’s identity is its paper-and-stationery world: you literally fold every unit and building from paper, your economy runs on Paper, Pencilcore, and Pitch, and traveling storms reshape each battle. Specialist units bring tactical wrinkles you won’t find elsewhere — Proxies are walking bombs you detonate in a crowd, Plaguebearers spread a creeping corruption, and the Prophet’s Prism lets you conjure weather as a weapon.
Can I play against AI?
Yes. The AI runs a full economy and build order, defends its base, regroups after fights, and can be set to different difficulties. You can also set AI opponents on any team slot in a multiplayer lobby.
Is there multiplayer?
Yes — LAN multiplayer is in the game now. Up to six people can play across as many as twelve colours in free-for-all, team, or 2-vs-1 matches, with shared vision and shared victory for allies. Host a game and others join from the lobby browser or by game code. Online play over the internet is planned for a later release. See Multiplayer for details.
Can I make my own maps?
Yes. Warigami includes a full Map Editor for building custom maps, a trigger system for scripting scenarios, and a campaign designer for chaining missions together with briefings and unlocks.
How many factions are there?
Two provinces: ⛩ the Pious in white paper and 冥 the Profane in pitch-black. They share a core of workers, folders and support folds, then each has eleven units and several buildings of its own — 31 units and 21 buildings in all. You pick your province every match. See Provinces.
What are the system requirements?
Warigami is deliberately light. If your machine runs a modern browser, it runs Warigami.
- OS: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) for the download; the browser build runs anywhere Chrome, Edge or Firefox does.
- Graphics: any GPU with WebGL 2. Integrated graphics run at the low preset, and the game lowers its own settings if it can’t hold 22 fps.
- Memory: 4 GB; 8 GB recommended for six-player matches on the largest maps.
- Storage: about 460 MB installed; updates download only the changed part (about 60 MB).
- Network: LAN multiplayer only — everyone on the same local network. No account or server.
Community
How can I get involved?
- Play it, and press Ctrl+B in the Windows build the moment something looks wrong — the report arrives with a screenshot and logs attached. From the browser build, email us.
- Build a map or a scenario in the Map Builder and send us the export.
- Follow the update log or its RSS feed.
Is there a modding scene?
Community content starts with the built-in Map Builder, which lets you build maps, scripted scenarios with per-map costs and rules, and full campaigns, and share them as files. Custom maps also travel to every player in a multiplayer lobby automatically.
