Pencilcore

Pencilcore is a raw mineral resource — dense graphite cores mined straight from the ground. It reinforces your mid-tier troops and advanced structures. Pencilcore is dug from Pencilcore Pits, dark rocky seams on the map.

Gathering

• Mined by Prospectors into the global stockpile
• Each trip carries 4 Pencilcore
• Each Pencilcore Pit holds 900 Pencilcore before it is drained
• A drained Pit slowly recharges over time
• In a pinch, Paper Pickers and Paper Pushers can scratch Pencilcore from the Pits — but only slowly

Uses

Pencilcore is required for:

• Pikemen and Proteges (reinforced troops)
• Parapets (defensive towers)
• Patternworks, Playbook Projector, and Printworks construction
• Reinforcement upgrades such as Pressed Creases and Practiced Patterns

Strategy

Pencilcore is your mid-game reinforcement metal. You open with 40 Pencilcore in stock, but you will burn through it fast raising a Patternworks and your first advanced buildings. Put Prospectors on a Pit as soon as you spot one, and don’t overspend on Pencilcore-hungry units unless your supply is secure.
